iPhone and Android email setup

iPhone (and iPad)

  1. Open Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account.
  2. Tap Other → Add Mail Account.
  3. Enter your name, full e-mail address, password and an account description (e.g. "Work"). Tap Next.
  4. Choose IMAP at the top.
  5. Under Incoming Mail Server:
    • Host Name: mail.yourdomain.co.za
    • Username: full e-mail address
    • Password: your mailbox password
  6. Under Outgoing Mail Server: same Host Name, Username and Password as above.
  7. Tap Next. iOS verifies the connection (10 to 30 seconds) and saves the account.

Android (Gmail app or Samsung Mail)

  1. Open the Gmail app (works on every Android phone) or your phone's built-in Mail app.
  2. Tap your profile picture top-right → Add another account.
  3. Choose Other.
  4. Enter your full e-mail address. Tap Next, then Personal (IMAP).
  5. Enter your password. Tap Next.
  6. Server settings (incoming):
    • Server: mail.yourdomain.co.za
    • Port: 993, Security type: SSL/TLS
  7. Server settings (outgoing): same server, port 465, SSL/TLS.
  8. Choose your sync settings (sync frequency, notifications). Done.

Battery and data tips

  • Set sync to Push for instant new-mail notifications, or every 15 minutes if you want better battery life.
  • Limit IMAP sync to the last 30 days of mail to save storage and data on a metered connection.
