How to set up your Trinico Cloud e-mail in classic Outlook (2016, 2019, 2021)

Do not have Outlook yet? It is a free download: How to download the free Outlook app on your PC, Mac or phone.

Classic Outlook is the Outlook that comes with Office 2016, 2019, 2021 and the Microsoft 365 apps. You add your Trinico Cloud email address through File, then Add Account, choose IMAP and type in the settings below. It takes about five minutes.

Not sure which Outlook you have? Classic Outlook has a File tab at the top left. The new Outlook does not; use the new Outlook guide instead.

Add your email address

1. Open Outlook and click File, then Add Account.
2. Type your full email address.
3. Click Advanced options, tick Let me set up my account manually and click Connect.
4. Choose IMAP.
5. Fill in the server settings from the table below, then click Next.
6. Type the password of the email address and click Connect. This is the one you set in cPanel, not your cPanel password.
7. Click Done. Your mail starts downloading.

The settings

Email address and username	your full email address, for example info@yourbusiness.co.za
Password	the password of this email address (not your cPanel password)
Account type	IMAP
Incoming server	mail.yourbusiness.co.za
Incoming port and security	993, SSL/TLS
Outgoing server (SMTP)	mail.yourbusiness.co.za
Outgoing port and security	465, SSL/TLS
Outgoing server needs to sign in	Yes, with the same email address and password

Swap in your own domain. Wherever you see yourbusiness.co.za, use the part of your email address after the @. If your address is sales@smithplumbing.co.za, your server is mail.smithplumbing.co.za.

Why IMAP and not POP?

IMAP keeps your email on the server, so your phone, laptop and webmail all show the same inbox, sent items and folders. POP downloads mail to one computer, and if that computer is lost or breaks, the mail can go with it. Use IMAP unless you have a particular reason not to.
