Frequently Asked

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick, honest answers to the questions we hear most often. Still need help? Get in touch.

What is Trinico Cloud FTP storage?

It is secure, off-site storage space you connect to over FTP, FTPS or SFTP. It is built for backups, large file transfers, replication targets and archives, not for hosting live websites or applications.

What can I back up to it?

Anything you can copy over FTP or SFTP: website files, databases, email archives, cPanel and JetBackup backups, server snapshots, media libraries and document archives.

Is my data encrypted in transit?

Yes. We support SFTP and FTPS, so your files are encrypted while they move between your server and your storage. We recommend always using SFTP or FTPS rather than plain FTP.

Why use off-site storage?

Keeping a copy away from your main hosting follows the 3-2-1 backup rule: three copies, on two types of media, with one off-site. If your primary server ever has a problem, your off-site copy is unaffected.

How do I connect to it?

Use any FTP client such as FileZilla, WinSCP or Cyberduck, or point cPanel, JetBackup or Plesk at it as a remote backup destination using the SFTP or FTPS details we provide.

Is there a bandwidth or transfer limit?

No. Data transfer is unlimited, so you can run frequent backups and large restores without worrying about overage fees.

Can I host a website on it?

No. This is storage-only space for backups and file transfer. For websites, take a look at our cPanel hosting plans instead.

Can I change storage size later?

Yes. You can move between the 50GB and 2TB tiers as your needs change. Just contact our support team and we will sort it out.

How am I billed?

Plans are billed monthly, with no setup fees and no surprise charges. Pricing ranges from R49 per month for 50GB up to R1999 per month for 2TB.
