Migrate WordPress

Moving an existing WordPress site to Trinico Cloud is straightforward and we will do the migration for you for free if you ask. If you prefer to do it yourself, here are the two easiest methods.

Method 1: We do it for you (recommended)

Open a support ticket and provide:

  • Your current host's cPanel login (or FTP credentials if no cPanel).
  • Your WordPress admin login.
  • Your domain registrar login (or just the nameserver-update permissions).

We replicate the site to your new Trinico Cloud account, test that it works on a temporary URL, then swap the DNS at a low-traffic time. Total downtime is usually under 5 minutes. There is no charge for this service.

Method 2: Do it yourself with a plugin

Plugins like All-in-One WP Migration, Duplicator or UpdraftPlus handle the heavy lifting. Outline:

  1. On your old host: install the plugin, click Export, download the resulting file.
  2. On Trinico Cloud: install WordPress via Softaculous (see WordPress install guide ) at your domain (or a temporary subdomain).
  3. Install the same plugin in the new WordPress, click Import, upload the file. The plugin replaces the new WordPress with your old site.
  4. Update your DNS at the registrar to point to Trinico Cloud nameservers.
  5. Wait for DNS propagation (usually 4 to 24 hours), then verify the site loads correctly.

Common gotchas

  • Large sites. Free plugin tiers usually cap at 512 MB. For sites larger than that, ask us to migrate.
  • Custom code in wp-config.php. The plugin won't copy this - we will copy it across as part of the manual migration.
  • Hard-coded URLs in the database. If you migrate to a different domain, search-and-replace the database URLs (the plugins do this automatically when configured).
  • SSL certificates. We issue free SSL certificates automatically once your domain points at us.
